HAND-LOOM RUGS
The rugs which are weaved on handloom are known as handloom products. As the name suggests, handloom is a loom that is used to weave rugs using hands, that is, without the use of electricity. The foot pedals are pressed to lift the respective heddles according to the weave plan and it has to be in sync with throwing the weft or horizontal yarns across the two sections of warp yarns.
HAND-TUFTED RUGS
Hand tufting is a newer technique, that has been developed to combine the ancient craft of weaving with modern day technology. The way hand-tufting works is that the weaver starts with a sheet of canvas or similar material and pulls wool strands through this using a tufting gun or tool.
BENI OURAIN RUGS
Beni Ourain Rug (often referred as Morrocon Rugs) is pure poetry, pure abstract - abstract, but loaded with a deep meaning. One or two men sit next to each other on a bench at a vertical loom so that their hands always remain at the same level, the finished part of the carpet is gradually rolled round the lower beam disappearing the carpet from sight and the weaver sees only the last part of her work. This means that weaver must use forms drawn from her memory. In this way her creativity is given full scope.
